Success Secrets 26 -31
26. Joseph packaged himself excellently
This principle was seen in the life of Joseph. When Pharaoh called upon him from the prison, Joseph shaved himself and changed his raiment, and came unto Pharaoh (Genesis 41:14). Joseph decked himself for his future. The dreamer’s package! It is not enough to have a great dream or vision. Don’t say ‘whatever will be, will be’. Package yourself commensurate to your dream, and expect greatness and excellence in your future. Learn from Joseph; package yourself excellently. Dressing well is not dressing swell. Even if we cannot afford expensive clothes, we can still be neat and smart.
Scriptural Focus: “Let all things be done decently and in order”. – I Corinthians 14:40.
27. Joseph was instant in season
Pharaoh had a dream; Egypt was to face seven years of abundance and seven years of excruciating famine. Joseph is elected as the Prime Minister and his job is to preserve food for the future. Joseph displayed God’s wisdom by building up for his family. He knew that the years of famine would surely come. He thought up a great plan and this plan also favoured him. He was instant in season and he took advantage of the famine. Now is the time to lay the foundation for your great future. Build up your tomorrow, today. Get down to work. Spend quality time developing yourself. Read, so that you can be read.
Scriptural Focus: “For which of you intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?” – Luke14:28.
28. Joseph Responded To Changes
We can see how Joseph adapted to the various stages and phases in his life. No wonder he seemed to enjoy the process and had a positive mental attitude. How do you see your present stage? Don’t look back and wish you were still on that past level. Rise up today, and adapt joyfully to this present stage. Take hold of the circumstance; strategize, plan and execute. That will give you joy. And remember, after going through this phase and you are at rest, another phase awaits you; whether the prison or the palace, get ready.
Scriptural Focus: “To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven” – Ecclesiastes 3:1.
29. Joseph Was Misunderstood
To be great, you have to go beyond the norm. Going the extra-mile produces extra-mile results. Joseph went the extra mile. To be great, you have to follow God’s principles of greatness. It can be demanding but it is possible. It always goes against the norm and it is capable of being misunderstood. But to be great is to be misunderstood.
Scriptural Focus: “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not”. Proverbs 1:10.
30. Joseph was a dispenser of good
Joseph exemplified the Abrahamic blessing. He became a succourer of the nation of Israel – Genesis 47:11-12. He was a fountain of God’s covenant blessings. God wants to use you to succour others. He wants to prosper you beyond you. Prosperity is not for your lust. No! It is becoming a covenant pipe through which God can pass on His blessings to others.
Scriptural Focus: “And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing” – Genesis 12:2.
31. Joseph Fulfilled His Dreams
Joseph had a dream at the beginning; a controversial dream. He went through many phases and challenges was misunderstood, and eventually betrayed by his brothers. He was forgotten in prison, and had to serve many masters, but in the end and in spite of all these, he fulfilled what he saw at the beginning. I am awed for in spite of all the challenges, Joseph was a complete success.
Scriptural Focus: “And Joseph’s brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him… And Joseph remembered the dream which he dreamed of them…” Genesis 42:6-9.
